Nate Scarano

Master Instructor, Use of Force, Probation/Parole Practices


Nate Scarano serves as a Master Instructor in the Use of Force and probation/parole practices at the Officer Safety Institute. Mr. Scarano is an active probation officer with a major probation department in Southern California with over 15 years experience in juvenile corrections and field probation/parole enforcement environments. He has extensive experience working in high-risk, multi-agency task force, gang enforcement and violent offender assignments.

Nate has been assigned as an OSI instructor of less lethal Use of Force for 10 years and holds instructor certifications in a number of Use of Force and officer safety methodologies. Additionally, Nate is an accomplished martial artist, with over 20 years of significant instructor and kumite experience in Shotokan style Karate. He is a past gold medalist on the USA Karate Team where he has been an International World Champion in Open and Heavy Weight Divisions. Nate holds the rank of 5th Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Administration of Justice.
